Rahime Yavuz
Materials: Magazine Officer
Hi dearest material scientists!
For those who don’t know me: I'm Rahime, a second-year student. For this role, as seen from my picture, I was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci due his notebooks. I’d love to make it feel like our Materials “notebook” - a magazine that is a shared space, where everyone feels free to write about their ideas, interests, and experiences.
Some of my strengths for this role:
- I love connecting materials science to everyday life, and a magazine is a perfect place to do that, winning an award for my personal statement is a good prove for this.
- I enjoy design, I’ve designed logos, menus, and webpages before. I can make sure the magazine is visually appealing to make the read more fun.
- I’m good at connecting with people and I’d like to feature more content such as lunchtime lecture highlights (so no need to worry if you miss any ), interviews, and internship/UROP experiences, this means if there is something that excites you, you can share this with others.
I will mainly continue the quality content from previous years but in addition to this, I will be consistent.
Some of my new ideas are:
- Materials riddles/games
- In addition to academic writings; I will introduce sections about the socials
- QR codes if you wish to produce short films on certain topics
- I am also open being contacted for ideas:)
...(and many more)
Let's all enjoy a casual and interesting materials-themed read on our tube/bus journeys.
