Nicole Li
Hello everyone! I am Nicole and I'm running to be your next year 1/2 representative for Cardiovascular Society.
The BRS Cardiovascular and Respiratory module and Thorax Anatomy are two significant parts of Phase 1. As a first-year medical student who has already attended multiple medical and surgical conferences, including the ICSM Cardiology cardiology conference, I am greatly enthusiastic about cardiology. However, I also understand the daunting "knowledge gap" between pre-med and our current curriculum, including basic suturing skills and ECG interpretation.
As a Bristol Education Partnership representive, I single-handedly coordinated a city-wide Medicine career talk which involved managing complex cross-school logistics and speaker recruitment, proving I have the project management and organisationalskills to deliver high-quality events for our cohort.
As a Year 1/2 Representative, I will:
- Organise high-yield, lectures-specific online tutorials which specifically bridge the gap between BRS Cardiovascular and Respiratory Medicine and Anatomy of the Thorax
- Organise ECG Basics and Suturing Workshops earlier in the academic year to boost confidence and practical skills
- Collaborate with MedTech Society to provide introductory sessions on Cardio Tech, e.g. pacemakers, robotic surgery, diagnostic AI etc.
- Prioritise student voice by actively adapting to and represending the needs and requests of the cohorts at committee meetings
I am eager to provide hands-on experiences, academic support and friendly peer support to students in Phase 1. I would greatly appreciate your support, thank you!
