Abbie Premakumar
I am excited to run for Head of Promotions because I believe Cardiovascular Society already has such a strong and established presence within our university. It is a society with credibility and tradition, and I would love to build on that foundation by ensuring our promotions reflect the same energy and professionalism that define our events.
Over the past few years, I have gained extensive experience in social media and publicity through my involvement in several medical organisations. I currently serve as Secretary and Senior Social Media Lead for the Institute of Medical Ethics, and I have previously held media roles with the British Geriatrics Society, the British Tamil Medical Association, and the National Medical Research Association. Through these positions, I have learned how to communicate effectively with different audiences - from students to professionals - while maintaining a consistent and engaging online presence.
If elected, I would focus on:
-
Introducing structured promotion timelines for events, including teaser posts, speaker spotlights, countdowns, and post-event highlights to maintain momentum.
-
Incorporating interactive and educational content - such as short cardiovascular case challenges or pre-event Q&A boxes - to keep engagement high beyond event announcements.
-
Expanding our professional reach by encouraging collaboration posts and resharing from speakers and partner organisations.
-
Reviewing engagement insights regularly to continuously refine and improve our promotional strategy.
I would be truly grateful for the opportunity to represent ICSMHeart as Head of Promotions and help shape its next chapter.
