Shiromi Patrick

Hi I'm Shiromi, and I am a fifth year medical student. I'm really interested in O&G having done my BSc project and SCP in obstetric related fields. O&G is a huge and complex speciality and I believe that students deserve enough support to tackle such an important field. Whether that's exams, placement advice or mentoring opportunities, I believe that I can ensure that future fifth years are prepared for the academic year and beyond.

As Year 5 officer, I would introduce obstetrics and gynae tutorials earlier on through the academic year as it can get overwhelming when left to the last minute, and also helping those who have their O&G placement right at the beginning of year 5. Additionally I would introduce focussed PACES tutorials with advice on common stations, how to take O&G histories for common presentations with opportunities to practice. Having done society tutorials previously and also held many committee positions, I can manage my time well and know how tutorials should be structured and taught to best engage students.

As someone who is interested in O&G and teaching, I would love to make the most of this role to benefit fifth year students!
