Tharanya Appulingam

Hi, I am very excited to run as a conference chair for Endocrinology Society. It is an amazing opportunity to involve myself in organising conferences to help students develop their interests further.

Endocrinology has interested me a lot over the past two years and the chance to be part of this society will help build my understanding and interests as well as of other students.

Having attended some conferences before, I am familiar with the way it works and I also am part of International Tamil Society committee as a Head of Sponsorship. Through this, I am involved in organising large scale events as our annual showcase has around 1000 attendees and hence, developed my communication and organisational skills. I was responsible for maintaining healthy relationships with our sponsors, demonstrating my ability to build good rapport with others while adapting accordingly to align with both parties' values. My experience on committee is useful to easily integrate into a team of various skillsets and also I am aware of how societies run generally. In school, I was part of the medical society committee where I gained experience in organising event speakers.

I was on Tamil society subcommittee last year so both roles have been important in showing and building my team working skills, working efficiently and harmoniously with colleagues. I am excited to work with someone else as co-conference chairs.

I would be grateful for this chance and I will give my all to organise the best possible conference. Thank you!
