Malaysian: External Liaison Officer

Motivation

After finding my community in ICUMS, I have always wanted to give back in one way or another. Hence, deciding to run for the position of External Liaison Officer as I believe I will be able to contribute well with this role. Below are some ideas I plan to implement.

Sponsorship & Outreach

My primary goal is to diversify our sponsorship portfolio by targeting sectors like property development, engineering, and STEM (e.g., Gamuda Berhad) to fill sector gaps in ICUMS' sponsorship portfolio. I propose moving beyond monetary support to include in-kind sponsors from local Asian businesses for event prizes and catering. To increase value for both members and sponsors, I will:

  • Collaborate with major Malaysian organizations (UKEC, ICMS) to host larger-scale events.

  • Revamp the Career Drive into a "CV Bank" to increase member visibility to Malaysian employers.

  • Introduce flexible sponsorship tiers and interactive engagement like coffee chats and workshops.

Alumni Engagement (ICAAM)

To better utilise our alumni network, I intend to:

  • Revitalize the Alumni Mentoring Scheme with physical meet-ups to build rapport before the mentoring process begins.

  • Launch a "QnA Bank" where members can submit moderated questions to specific alumni, increasing response visibility and efficiency.

ICUMS Website

In collaboration with the web team, I will overhaul the ICUMS website to feature a "Trackr" system to centralize sponsor opportunities. I also aim to incorporate the QnA Bank into the site to archive past advice for the community.
