Yo, it's Yemi, and I want to be your DesSoc President!

I'm a 3rd-year DesEng student, and I've spent the last two years on the BME team in Central Union so I know how the union works inside out, from logistics to budgets to making things actually happen. I'm someone who gets stuck in, and I'm ready to bring that energy to DesSoc.

Here's what I've got planned:

1. More Sponsorship, Bigger Budget: I'll leverage our placement and alumni network to bring in real sponsorship. More money means better events, better resources, and a better experience for everyone.
2. Bigger, Better Hackathons: I want to put DesEng hackathons on the map think ICHack scale, but for us. I'll also introduce inter-year hackathons so you can collaborate (and compete!) across year groups.
3. DesFamily Events That Slap: More events that actually bring the DesEng family together think Family Feud nights, Sports Days, and socials where every year group shows up.
4. Stronger Alumni Connections: I'll build a proper alumni network with regular catch-ups, mentorship opportunities, and sponsored events so you can tap into the incredible people who came before us.
5. DesEng-Only Careers Fair: Our course is unique, so our careers support should be too. I'll organise dedicated careers fairs with companies that actually understand and value what Design Engineers do.

I've spent my time making sure voices are heard and communities are built. Now I want to do the same for DesSoc let's make next year one to remember.
