Olivia Dong
I am a 1st-year Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry student and an active member of the Imperial Badminton and Basketball teams. Sport has always been a core part of my life, from captaining my house at school to representing Imperial. Now, I want to bring that energy to ChemSoc and make sport a natural, exciting part of our department’s culture.
As Sports Officer, my priority will be to get more ChemSoc students involved, regardless of experience. I will run regular, low-pressure sessions that are open to everyone – whether you’re a total beginner or play competitively. I will introduce “Try-It” sessions in different sports where no experience is required and equipment is provided, so all you need to do is turn up. Clear communication, simple sign-up forms and space for feedback will make getting involved as easy as possible.
Experience
- Member of Imperial Badminton and Basketball teams
- Former house captain, coordinating teams, fixtures and events
Skills
- Leadership – organising school sports teams, motivating others and ensuring everyone feels included
- Organisation – balancing sport with a demanding course, managing time and logistics
- Communication – approachable, clear and responsive
- Teamwork – developed through years of sport, working closely with others
I want ChemSoc sport to be more than just matches and fixtures – a real break from lectures, a way to reset, and a community that supports each other. I will work towards the goal building genuinely connected Chem family.
