Mechanical Engineering: Welfare Officer

Hi, I’m Korn, a 2nd Year Mechanical Engineering student.

Being a Mech Eng student at Imperial is something to be proud of. But let's be honest, it can be relentless. The labs and tutorial sheets pile up and the pressure to try to keep up with everything is quite overwhelming. I'm running for Welfare Officer because I believe every Mech Eng student should feel supported and heard. I’ll be focusing on three main areas:

  1. Mental health: I'll work with Imperial's counselling and mental health services to run dedicated awareness events during the toughest weeks of term (exam season and lab deadlines!), and social events and care packages as well. Sometimes a free coffee and a friendly face is exactly what's needed.
  2. Resources: A clear, easy-to-find guide to every support available at Imperial, whether it’s the Student Wellbeing Advisory Service or hardship funds or academic extensions, so no one misses out simply because they didn't know it existed.
  3. Feedback: Regular anonymous feedback so I know what's genuinely affecting your wellbeing, and the commitment to take it directly to academic staff.

With your support, I hope to make the Mech Eng student experience a little less stressful and a little more enjoyable.

Vote Korn for Welfare Officer. Thank you.
