Akshat Sharma
I am a third-year medical student with a deep interest in oncology and strong organisational experience, and I am running for Oncology Society Secretary to help deliver a well-structured and engaging experience for our members. Through my involvement with Vision, where I have worked as a medical school liaison and helped organise events, I have developed key skills in scheduling, communicating with clinicians and faculty, and ensuring that logistics run smoothly. I have also previously led CPA teaching and tutored younger students, which has strengthened my ability to coordinate sessions and communicate clearly with attendees. If elected, I would work to maintain efficient administration within the society, ensure clear and timely communication with members, and support the committee in planning and delivering high-quality academic and careers events. A key goal of mine would be to help organise an Oncology Society conference, bringing together students, clinicians and researchers to explore current advances in oncology and highlight research and career opportunities. Drawing on my prior organising experience with Vision, I would focus on careful planning, good liaison with speakers and the medical school making sure everything runs smoothly.
