Oncology: Conference Officer

From my first year of medical school, I have been deeply interested in oncology, with a particular passion for neuro-oncology. I began as an enthusiastic member of the society and, over the past year, have had the privilege of serving on the subcommittee: helping to organise our biweekly journal club and supporting the delivery of our annual oncology conference. Being involved in the delivery process has given me valuable insight into what makes a conference both inspiring and impactful.

As Conference Officer, my goal would be to build on the success of our previous events and continue delivering a high-quality annual oncology conference that reflects the breadth and innovation within the field. I would work to invite a diverse range of speakers across different oncology subspecialties ranging from cardiothoracics, gastroenterology to neurology and haematology ensuring attendees gain insight into varied career pathways, cutting-edge research, and multidisciplinary practice.

I am particularly keen to increase opportunities for student involvement, whether through interactive oncological workshops, abstract submissions, poster presentations, or getting involved in Q&A with panelists. Encouraging early engagement in research and academic discussion is something I am truly passionate about.

Alongside maintaining strong academic value, I would focus on creating a well-structured, engaging, and welcoming event that students of all years feel encouraged to attend.

I would be honoured to serve as your Oncology Conference Officer.
