Hi everyone, I am Dallon Chon, and I am running for Conference Officer for the ICSM Oncology Society. 🗳️
I am standing because I want our conferences to be the kind of events students genuinely look forward to attending, not just something we sign up for and forget. Oncology is one of the most exciting and fast moving areas in medicine, and I want our conferences to reflect that through strong speakers, relevant topics, and a smooth experience for everyone attending.
I have experience working across academic and society roles, including as an elected Phase 1a Academic Representative, an Oncology Society academic subcommittee member, and through committee work in other ICSM societies. These roles have helped me build skills in planning, communication, coordination, and understanding what students actually want from academic events.
If elected, I will focus on three priorities. First, quality: I will invite engaging speakers and design programmes that balance clinical insight, research, and career exposure. Second, organisation: clear timelines, strong coordination with the committee, and reliable event delivery. Third, accessibility: making conferences welcoming and useful for students at different stages, from first years exploring oncology to senior students with specific interests.
I also want to support interdisciplinary collaboration, especially where oncology meets immunology, surgery, imaging, and translational research.
I am running because I care about creating conferences that are well organised, high value, and genuinely inspiring. If elected, I will be committed, proactive, and ready to put in the work.
