Dermatology (ICSM): Vice Chair

Hi! I’m Akshita, a second-year medic and I would love to be the next Vice President of Dermatology Society! In my experience, skin health is not just clinical - it shapes confidence, identity, and quality of life. During my internship with a dermatology-focused AI startup, I observed that a holistic understanding of the patient is invaluable in the management of skin conditions. Turning complex evidence into clear, patient focused reasoning showed me that Dermatology is not just about recognising rashes, but about identifying the real impact they have on people’s lives.

As Vice President, I aim to:

  • Create accessible research and conference opportunities - having attended the All Skin Tones Dermatology Conference 2025 and the London Universities Dermatology Conference 2026, I have seen how inspiring it is to be part of wider dermatology conversations. I would love to encourage more students to engage in research, and celebrate their work.
  • Strengthen academic support - dermatology is often overlooked due to limited teaching time, however the speciality can feel conceptually complicated. I aim to organise clear, structured tutorials to clarify BRS content and support clinical teaching.
  • Cultivate stronger connections with clinicians and academic partners - as the role of a doctor diversifies further, I would be keen to organise insight sessions into pathways within dermatology. By inviting experts to deliver talks, members will have an opportunity to explore MedTech, pharmaceuticals, and the human side of the speciality.

Thank you so much for reading my manifesto, and I would truly appreciate your vote!
