Sedra Afzali

Hello, my name is Sedra and I am a third year medical student, co running with Lawiza as candidates for Derm Soc chair!

Together, we are passionate about building on the incredible work of the current committee and taking Derm Soc even further. We are committed to continuing and expanding the flagship London Universities Dermatology Conference, growing it into an even bigger platform with inspiring speakers, wider subspecialty representation, and meaningful networking opportunities for students across London.

We also want to strengthen our focus on dermatology research and portfolio-building advice, offering practical sessions on how to become a competitive applicant. In addition, we aim to introduce more dermatology-focused tutorials and teaching sessions throughout the year, helping students build clinical knowledge and confidence in a supportive environment.

We are hardworking, dedicated, and genuinely passionate about Derm Soc and its potential. We pride ourselves on being approachable and supportive, and we are always open to feedback and new ideas. Having already worked together on committee for Muslim Medics, we have developed a strong working dynamic built on communication, organisation, and trust. We know how to collaborate effectively and deliver events that are well-planned and impactful.

By running as co-chairs, we bring double the commitment, energy, and accountability. We are excited about what Derm Soc can become and would be honoured to lead it forward.
