Lawiza Khan

Hi! My name is Lawiza, and I am a second-year medical student co-running with Sedra as candidates for Derm Soc Chair.

Over the past year, we have had the privilege of working together on the Muslim Medics committee, gaining valuable experience organising large-scale events. As social secretary, I helped organise Freshers’' events, not only did we have the events but dare I say some were the best we've had. Along with my subcommittee, I also coordinated the flagship Muslim Medics Annual Dinner.

Sedra was part of the subcommittee for our conference, where she gained experience liaising with speakers, supporting logistics, and contributing to the delivery of a professional academic event. These experiences have strengthened our organisational skills and given us the confidence to lead and expand Derm Soc’s flagship London Universities Dermatology Conference into something even bigger and more impactful.

If elected, we will continue to grow the conference, introduce more dermatology-focused tutorials and teaching sessions, and create practical opportunities for research involvement and portfolio building. Sedra and I are hardworking, dedicated, and passionate about the societies we serve. We are approachable, organised, and work exceptionally well together, understanding each other’s strengths and communicating effectively to deliver results.
