Physics: Careers & Sponsorship Officer

Hi everyone!

I’m Harikrish (Hari), a first year physicist, and I’m running to be your next Careers and Sponsorship Officer for PhySoc.

When I first arrived at Imperial College London, I saw older students securing internships, spring weeks and research placements. I will be honest, it was intimidating.

Am I already behind?
What should I even be applying for?
Is everyone else ahead of me?

That uncertainty is something almost all of us experience. I want to change that.

Here is what I will focus on:

1) Bringing in a more diverse range of sponsors. Not just finance. Not just tech. Physics opens doors to consulting, energy, aerospace, research, data science, start ups and more. PhySoc should reflect that full spectrum.

2) Expanding research opportunities. For those interested in research, options outside UROP can feel limited. I want to reach out to research institutes and companies to create more internship pathways.

3) Hosting more frequent and meaningful sponsor events. Panels, recruiter Q and A sessions, skills workshops and networking evenings that actually help you understand what is out there.

Physics is hard enough. Figuring out your future should not feel impossible too.

If elected, I will work to make career exploration less overwhelming and more empowering for all of us.

I hope to have an unforgettable year working with you and the committee of PhySoc!
