Shruthi Vijayakumar

Hi everyone!! I’m Shruthi and I would love to be a part of your Vision committee next year. I love what the society stands for and the work it puts in to helping make medicine more accessible, and I would love to play a more integral role in committee for the upcoming year. As publicity officer, I would work closely with other members of committee to ensure that the information conveyed is engaging and truly representative of what this society is all about.

I’ve helped out in both the MMA day and the Future Medics conference, and thoroughly enjoyed both events. I believe that opportunities like this should be widely available to prospective medical students, and as publicity officer I would do my best to ensure that information is clear, accessible and reaches the right people.

Being organised and innovative are key aspect of this role, and are ones I have developed well through balancing my academics with my other more creative commitments. I have worked closely with core committee as member liaison for another society, and understand the importance of effective communication between committee members to ensure everything runs smoothly. These skills well-equip me to take on the role of your publicity officer next year, and I am excited to work with like-minded individuals who are as passionate about widening participation for medicine as I am :)
