Hey, I'm Maddie and I'm running for Vice President of the Geophysics Society to build on my existing experience within the committee and continue strengthening both the academic and social sides of the society. Having already held committee roles, I am well prepared to support the society’s smooth and effective running.

Experience

• Events & Publicity Officer, Acting Secretary, and Interim VP.
• Organised and promoted talks; contributed to planning meetings with department staff.
• Strong understanding of society operations and leadership responsibilities.
• Well-connected within the department, supporting efficient society running.

Priorities as VP

• Organise departmental and external speaker talks to highlight career paths and opportunities.
• Increase social events to strengthen community within the society.
• Offer further hands-on geophysics opportunities using equipment both in and outside of the department.
  • Build on initiatives such as the Geophysics Field Day with Geomatrix.
  • Better prepare students for geophysics-focused field trips.
  • Increase first-year exposure to geophysics.
• Support the reinstation of society tours, ensuring they are well organised and beneficial for students.
