Why me?
I understand that chemistry is intense, yet it’s a subject that doesn’t get the credit it deserves for that intensity, unlike maths (yes, I’m salty). Having a society where we can relate to late-night lab report panic and the frustration of 9 a.m. labs would help all of us get through this degree much more smoothly.
I’m organised, approachable, and good at keeping things moving. I want ChemSoc to be a society that students can rely on, both socially and academically.
As VP, I’ll help deliver solid events, support members properly, and keep the society feeling relaxed and inclusive. No pressure-just a ChemSoc that works and feels good to be part of.
The elephant in the room… a first year being VP?
You might be wondering, do I have what it takes? Yes.
I have collected a variety of leadership experiences throughout secondary school: House Captain, Physics Society Head, Chemistry Ambassador, Chess Captain, and Form Captain. Through these roles, I developed confidence in running societies and working effectively within a team to keep everything running smoothly.
Once university began, I actively looked for additional opportunities and was elected as an Academic Representative, as well as becoming part of the subcommittee of Tamil Society. Through this, I’ve gained first-hand experience representing students, communicating effectively, and contributing to the smooth running of a society.
I might be a first year, but I’m ready to run ChemSoc better than my 9 a.m. lab runs me.
