Mechanical Engineering: Publicity Officer

Hi, I'm James, a second-year Mechanical Engineering student running for publicity officer for Mechsoc.

I know I'm not alone when I say Mechsoc is an essential part of the student experience. However, I also know that this feeling is not unanimous.

Too many students are oblivious to the joys of Mechsoc, which is why I'm running for publicity officer. After four years promoting live events as a band frontman, I know how to build excitement and engagement. Using this experience I promise to help create a society that nobody wants to miss out on. I will focus on three things:

Publicity.
It sounds obvious, but people won't attend if they don't know what's on. I will keep events visible, sticking to a consistent social media schedule, and maintaining a clear list of events to look forward to.

Organisation.
I will spend more time speaking to you. I will focus on understanding how your schedules work, how much advance notice you need for events, what times and places work best. My goal is for everyone to benefit from Mechsoc.

Events.
I plan to deliver more events of every nature. Whether it be a full-scale party, cross-soc collaborations, talks with industrial alumni, or even just an agreed time and place to have some snacks and chat with friends, I will make sure people get what they want to get out of Mechsoc.

These are my promises to you, so I hope I can count on your vote for me.
