Biology: Academic Events Officer

Hi, I’m Shonali and I’m very excited to be running for the role of academic events officer for BioSoc. As we all know, Biology covers a huge range of subjects, from immunology to ecology, and figuring out what area you are interested in can be extremely difficult! That’s why as academic events officer, I would:

secure talks and workshops with a diverse range of researchers and companies
work with the sponsorship officer to strengthen industry connections
collaborate with other societies to organise interdisciplinary events.

As a member of my high school’s Head Girl team and leader of Model UN society, I have extensive experience organising events, including conferences for over 300 students. I'm a big team player, and love working with others towards a common goal, whether it be competing with the Imperial Dance team, or collaborating across departments to find innovative sustainability solutions as part of the Climate Entrepeneurs club. I also have a slightly disturbing love for writing emails, and all things admin, which I would love to channel into organising amazing Bio-related events!
