Hi guys! I’m Deniz, a first year ecology & biology student, and I’m running for academic events officer. Instead of giving you a LinkedIn summary of my academic career and experiences, I want to share why I chose this position to run for:

Coming from a French high school where no real academic events ever took place, I was surprised and delighted to discover the amount of truly interesting and engaging events that are organized here. That’s why I’m so motivated to become a part of this process: to help plan events that are accessible, dynamic, and meaningful for everyone. I know many students share that same curiosity and eagerness to get involved, but may not know where to start- to them I quote Phinneas and Ferb: “There’s 104 days of summer—let’s do something!”

As Academic Events Officer, I'll bring fresh energy to our society by organizing hands-on workshops, researcher Q&As, intercollegiate networking events and themed bio nights where we turn academic topics into relaxed, interactive evenings with games, demos, drinks, and discussions. I'll prioritize accessibility: free entry, flexible timings for all years, and hybrid options so no one misses out. Most importantly, I'll create spaces for you to pitch ideas, lead sessions, or collaborate, turning passive attendees into active stars of the society.
