Hi! I’m Astrid, a second-year Biology student. I’m running because I believe our academic events can be broader, more practical, and more reflective of what studying Biology at Imperial can lead to various paths.
Here’s what I’d focus on:
- Wider representation of pathways– inviting speakers from conservation, NGOs, applied science, and environmental sectors alongside academic researchers, see how our degree connects to the real world.
- Practical skill workshops– short online sessions on research skills, field methods, data analysis, and scientific communication to help build confidence beyond lectures.
- Honest career insight panels– open discussions about academia, industry, funding realities, and alternative paths.
- Student-led programming– regularly collecting suggestions to ensure events reflect what youwant to explore.
Through organising field and academic activities this year, I’ve seen how powerful it is when curiosity meets direction. If elected, I’ll work to make BioSoc academic events more inclusive, useful, and engaging.
