Hello 😁 ! I’m Anastasia (or Stash), a second-year student, and I’m running for Vice President of BioSoc.
Imperial Biology is exciting, challenging, and always offering new opportunities, but it can also be overwhelming. I want BioSoc to be a society that builds community and supports you in navigating your degree and future with confidence.
Through research placements, tutoring, and leadership roles, (I've planned many group holidays and was the leader of my youth orchestra for many years) I've developed organisational skills and reliability that would help me deliver the best for this role. Here's what I'd start working on:
Academic Support and Study Access
At some point, you have most likely been unsure about how to revise, approach coursework, or prepare for assessments. I will work to organise:
- Study skills workshops tailored to modules
- Coursework and exam support sessions and guidance on academic writing
Also, here are my Quizlet flashcards on Year 1 and 2 topics (they helped me get very high MCQ marks) https://quizlet.com/user/Anastasia_Lewis1/folders
Clearer Communication
I will advocate for clearer communication channels, including:
- Encouraging effective use of module discussion boards
- FAQs to reduce confusion and email overload
Peer Support and Community
I will help create a stronger support network through:
- Encouraging Bio parents to see their children
- Events that focus on building connection, that consider your interests
Career and Research Opportunities
I will work with the Academic Events Officers to organise:
- Talks from alumni and professionals
- Workshops on securing research placements and internships
Thank you for your consideration😄.
