Rae Tang
Hey everyone!
I’m Rae! I’m running for VP because I want to contribute to improving the student experience in a different way — as part of Biosoc. From my role as Y1 Academic Rep, I learnt to manage admin tasks and communicate effectively. I hope you’ve felt that I’ve delivered on my manifesto, because those points still stand. I’ve heard your concerns about feeling less connected as a cohort if we only meet for lectures, workshops, and labs — as part of Biosoc, I hope to plan more social and career events (that involve food), to make Life Sciences feel like your community.
I deeply understand the importance of feedback from the student body in enacting change. Below are points from my previous manifesto, for background context:
Why would I be a good fit?
My experiences:
- Planned many initiatives addressing the needs of different target groups, where I liaised with various parties — students, teachers, NGOs, etc. I follow a servant leadership style, seeking to uplift team members in addition to meeting event objectives.
- 6 years of leadership experience in different roles: Y1 Academic Rep, Environmental Club Vice President, Peer Support Leader (student wellbeing), Student Council member, and Logistics Manager of a volunteering group.
My key principles:
- Listening, empathy first. Understanding problems in depth, through various perspectives, before executing solutions.
- Integrity, building a high trust environment
- Very receptive to feedback and constructive criticism
- Highly committed and responsible; I won't give up halfway!
- Curiosity!
Thank you very much for reading :]
