Mathematics: Vice President for External Affairs

Hi, I’m Aayush, and I’m running for Vice President for External Affairs.

Mathematics drives innovation at Imperial, and our society deserves an external reputation that commands attention from the world's top firms.

My vision for MathSoc is simple: we shouldn't operate in a silo. I want to build a deeply connected society that bridges our talent with other universities, cross-campus societies, and top-tier corporate partners. External affairs is high-level diplomacy—something I genuinely love (fun fact: I actually wanted to study PPE before committing to Huxley!). Before Imperial, I founded an organisation, directing teams to execute global summits for 500+ students from over 15 countries, dealing with sponsors and high-profile guests in the process. As National Agenda Coordinator, I also represented my council directly to government agencies at COP28. These experiences have taught me how to lead committees, build long-term institutional partnerships, and pitch our talent to high-profile stakeholders.

My Action Plan for MathSoc:

  • Strategic Industry Channels: Directing our sponsorship team to secure more than just funding: locking in exclusive workshops and learning opportunities with elite corporate firms.
  • The Alumni & Inter-University Network: Building bridges with other top UK mathematics societies and establishing a MathSoc alumni network for mentorship and direct career leads.
  • High-Budget Collaborations: Leveraging my ties to the computing community to co-host massive, interdisciplinary events alongside DoCSoc and AlgoSoc.

Let’s elevate MathSoc’s overall footprint. Vote Aayush!
