Shreya Pillai
Hi everyone! I’m Shreya, a third-year Chemical Engineering student, and I’m running to be your next Vice President.
I’ve been part of WSET for the past two years, most recently being on the committee as Sponsorship Liaison. Through this role, I’ve worked closely with our sponsors and seen the impact WSET has in fostering a community of ambitious and supportive women.
As Vice President, I want to expand our offering by strengthening WSET’s focus on STEM-related career pathways, alongside the initiatives we already run. While many societies involve networking, I believe WSET can differentiate itself by providing targeted opportunities specifically in STEM. I aim to ensure that members passionate about STEM can use WSET as a medium to explore research, entrepreneurship, and interdisciplinary careers.
To achieve this, I will:
- Partner with women-led start-ups and research spinouts, particularly those emerging from Imperial, to organise events such as founder talks and workshops that showcase pathways into STEM entrepreneurship and research.
- Develop stronger collaborations with STEM-focused companies to create tailored career events, such as insight sessions and networking.
- Delve into more opportunities that highlight the intersections in STEM and Finance, such as engineering consulting and research analytics.
- Increase collaborations with other societies for events such as hackathons.
- Continue to maintain strong relationships with existing sponsors.
By building on our strengths and introducing a stronger STEM focus, I aim to ensure WSET remains both a supportive community and a launchpad for career progression.
Thanks for reading and happy voting! :)
