This year Kevin and I have worked hard to practically bring this society back into existance after its complete lack of events in our first year, I think we have been pretty sucesfull, Kevin has decided to step down as president this year so I wish to take up this role and continue what we have set the foundations for this year.

Here's a quick summary of what we got up to this year:

Talks & Events

• Organised regular talks from academics and industry professionals

• Well attended by both undergrads and postgrads

• Not sure if that’s for the content or the pizza

• Either way, I will ensure that the free Dominoes remains next year

Hyde Park Field Day

• Reactivated the Hyde Park geophysics field day after years off the calendar

• Introduction to seismic refraction and EM surveys

• Turned out to be excellent prep for the 2nd year Cyprus field trip (as we are literaly doing it again)

SEG Reactivation

• On the brink of restarting the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) chapter

• This should unlock:

  • Extra funding opportunities

  • Potential society field trips

  • More technical and industry-focused events

Sport

• Helped organise intra-society 5-a-side football matches (EFDS, Bio, DesEng)

• Hope to make this a more regular thing next year
