Stephanie Kwan

BioMedical: Secretary

Hello everyone! I’m Stephanie and I’m standing to be elected as your Secretary for Biomedical Society for the 2026-2027 academic year.

As someone who has always struggled initially to settle into a new environment, especially as someone who has been in the same learning environment for the past 10 years, Biomedical society has been significant in cultivating a community that I can lean on in trying times. Freshers’ events and the Mums and Dads initiative have been undeniably impactful in getting me to open up to a variety of people. As such, I aspire to have a similar impact on the future year 1 cohort whilst improving university life for my Biomedical Sciences cohort.

Through roles such as being prefect in my previous school’s student council, I’m accustomed to the managerial requirements of this role such as deciding on venues and going through necessary paperwork. Furthermore, my experience as cofounder of a crochet charity initiative has developed my confidence in communicating with relevant and or external parties in order to avoid miscommunications that could disrupt event flow. By voting for me, I promise to contribute through

  1. Increasing transparency about meeting discussions
  2. Improving efficiency in event running
  3. Ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of information between committee and members

I would be honored to represent Biomedical Society as your secretary for the next academic year! Feel free to contact me about my campaign through either my email (stephanie.kwan25@imperial.ac.uk) or my instagram dms (@stephaniehykwan).
