Muay Thai: Women's Captain

Lads, ladies, I know what you’re thinking… “one fight and now she wants to be fight captain?” Yes - with one fight and training since I joined Imperial last year, I can honestly say I have fallen in love with the sport.

A couple of weeks ago I had my first fight. Leading up to it, after all the training, running, and sweeps I endured (by everyone except the person doing the sweeping), the most helpful part was the support from our team, coaches, captains, and fighters. Their leadership, experience, and teamwork made all the difference. In Muay Thai, having that encouragement and leadership you can rely on in times of uncertainty matters most. After experiencing a fight, I really understood the difference between a good captain and a great one.

As Women’s Captain, I want to help create a space where women feel confident and empowered - whether brand new, sparring for the first time, or thinking about stepping into the ring.

This year I aim to:

- Help get more women into Muay Thai by introducing female-only sessions

- Support female fighters (beginner and experienced) to make the women’s fight team more competitive than ever

- Organise structured sessions to get the most out of training

- Start creating Imperial Muay Thai merch

- Create good vibes, innit

If you want a captain who trains hard, supports harder, and keeps things fun, look no further.

Your future Captain signing out,

Viena
