Joshlynn Owusu
African Caribbean: Vice President Sponsorship
Hi everyone, I’m Joshlynn, a first-year Chemistry student running to be your next VP Sponsorship for ACS. I believe ACS should be more than a society that hosts events; it should be a bridge between talent and opportunity. My goal is to ensure our members leave Imperial not only with a degree, but with access to networks, internships, and clear career pathways.
Key Initiatives
- Strengthening Sponsorships: I will restore inactive sponsor relationships, deepen existing partnerships, and negotiate not just increased funding to elevate our events, but tangible career benefits — including interview considerations, structured recruitment pipelines, and direct industry access.
- Career Events Expansion: I want to broaden our focus beyond Law, Finance, and Healthcare by inviting labs, STEM organisations, biotech firms, and alumni across industries. As a Chemistry student, representation in STEM matters to me. Under the theme “Black Excellence in Every Room,” ACS will become a flagship networking space: inclusive, representative, and honest about navigating corporate and academic spaces. I will also make events more interactive and engaging.
- ACS Careers Mentorship Programme: I will establish a structured alumni network where former members return not just as speakers, but as mentors, sponsors, and recruiters, creating long-term guidance and sustained career progression.
Why Me?
Coming from a working-class background, I understand how powerful access can be. I attend ACS regularly and have developed a genuine passion for the society. With experience in financial management and fundraising, I’m ready to secure impactful sponsorships and open doors for our community.
Vote Joshlynn.
