Hi everyone!
I’m Anny, a first-year chemist running for ChemSoc Events Officer. As former Head Girl, I have organised large-scale events including sixth form dinners, so I have hands-on experience planning and delivering events people genuinely enjoy.
Let’s be honest, we all need fun events to temporarily escape the harsh realities of our degree *cough measurement science* *cough quantum mechanics* AND put an end to the false reputation that Imperial students have no social life.
As your Events Officer, I aim to set ChemSoc apart as the best departmental society (not that it needs any proving anyways) by incorporating unique events alongside the usual quiz, games, and movie nights throughout the year, and not just during Freshers’ Week.
If you vote for me as your Events Officer, I propose to introduce the following that you won’t want to miss:
- Academic support, including group revision sessions
- Career events, including research and alumni talks, and industry insights
- Chemistry-themed pub crawl, fancy wearing your lab coat as dress code?
- Sport watchalongs (F1 and football for my fellow F1 and football fans, myself included)
- Talent shows
- Boat parties
- Hyde Park picnics
- Bake-off, but making it periodic table themed
- Intersociety events, to establish connections with students outside of chemistry
...and many more.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, rest assured that the Christmas dinner will be bigger and better than ever...maybe even a cheeky Christmas dinner 2.0 in summer (IF budget allows).
Thanks for reading, and I hope you’ll consider voting for me as your Events Officer!
Anny :)
