Jason Lin
The role of Secretary is the operational backbone of ChemSoc. It requires precision and clear communication. My objective is to ensure that the Society runs efficiently and transparently so that every event is delivered to the highest standard.
ChemSoc operates at its best when administration is seamless. I will:
-
Maintain clear, accurate, and accessible records of meetings, decisions, and actions.
-
Implement a structured document system to ensure continuity between committees.
-
Establish an annual administrative calendar mapping key dates, deadlines, and events.
Consistency in documentation ensures stability, particularly during handovers. My priority is to leave the Society stronger than I found it.
Effective communication defines the success of any committee. I will:
-
Standardise internal communication channels to minimise confusion.
-
Maintain professional correspondence with external partners, sponsors, and the department.
Members should always understand what ChemSoc is delivering and how they can engage.
The Secretary should not simply record activity, but enable it. I will:
-
Monitor progress on action items to ensure accountability.
-
Anticipate administrative bottlenecks before they arise.
-
Support the President and committee in strategic planning and logistical coordination.
Operational efficiency allows the committee to focus on expanding opportunities for students.
My aim is not only to fulfil the responsibilities of the role, but to refine them. By introducing sustainable systems and clear documentation practices, future committees will inherit a structure that enables continuity and growth.
ChemSoc deserves an organised, proactive, and disciplined Secretary. I am prepared to deliver that standard.
