Surgical: Chair

We are proud to announce our candidacy for Surgical Society Co-Presidents 2026/27!

With a combined six years of experience across surgical committees including iPRAS, TVS and SurgSoc, we have served on executive committees, chaired national events and led the UK’s largest student-run surgical conference, Trauma Conference 2025/26. We have secured over £10,000 in sponsorship and built partnerships with Casualty Resources, ASiT, RCS, BAPRAS, Anatomage, MSF and BOA. These experiences place us in a strong position to lead SurgSoc into its next stage of growth.

Building on this year’s momentum, we propose the following initiatives:

Educational Innovation & New Events

  • Imperial Indexed Surgical Journal: A student-led platform supporting student publication and academic writing
  • Global Leaders Discussion Series: Interactive panels exploring leadership, innovation and future of surgery
  • Surgical Crisis Hackathon & Hackathon (MedTech & AI): A multidisciplinary event tackling modern-world surgical challenges
  • Surgical & Cardiac Skills Day: Hands-on conference introducing core and specialist surgical skills
  • Surgical Mentoring & Relocation Scheme: Connecting students with UK and international surgeons for guidance on pursuing surgical careers in nationally, United States, and Europe

Inclusivity & Outreach

  • SurgSoc Event Passport & Bursary Scheme: Increased attendance unlocks subsidised future event pricing & more!
  • Cross-Society Collaboration & Equipment Sharing: Joint events and shared access to equipment to improve accessibility
  • Year 1 & 2 Representation: To strenghthen engagement with pre-clinical years
  • Secondary School Outreach: Promoting surgery early and widening participation

Thank you for your support - we would be honoured to serve as your Surgical Society Co-Presidents!
