Experience That Delivers

I have led three flagship SurgSoc events defined by measurable growth:

International Orthopaedics Conference – 180% attendance increase and the highest profit margin of any SurgSoc event; delivery that is sustainable and highly efficient.
Battle of the Specialties (inaugural) – Elevated a small annual talk into a flagship event with 140+ attendees.
Women in Surgery – Expanded a virtual lecture into a full-day programme with structured, personalised portfolio guidance.

These were structural upgrades, not incremental changes.

My Vision

1. Plan Earlier. Think Bigger.
I will work early with the incoming general executives to secure international speakers, major sponsorships, stronger collaborations and set a clear publicity timeline. I will also create an operational framework (milestones, templates, best practice) so each committee can build on the year before. Finally, I will launch a professional SurgSoc website with an annual roadmap of events, deadlines, and opportunities, improving member visibility, strengthening our external profile, and sustaining engagement.

2. Research with Integrity.
Mentorship cannot be guaranteed, but opportunity can be enabled. I will deliver in-person workshops on coding, data handling, and study design to build practical research skills.

3. Evolve Events.
Replace Transplant & Vascular with a General Surgery Conference, and develop Specialty Spotlight into a year-long initiative with purposeful networking.

4. Strengthen Surgical Education.
As VP Education, Muslim Medics, I delivered all mock exams and contributed to creation of education resources. I will implement that strong experience in SurgSocs Education Stream.
