Space Society: Treasurer

I am running for Treasurer because I think good financial management can make or break what a society is able to do, and I want the SpaceSoc to be able to do a lot in 2026-27.
The role is more interesting than it might sound. It is not just spreadsheets (though I do actually enjoy those). It is about making sure that when someone has a good idea, a new project, a competition entry, an outreach event, the answer is not "we cannot afford it" when we actually could. That takes proper planning, clear budgeting, and making sure everyone on the committee knows where things stand.
I want to bring real transparency to how our finances work: straightforward budget reports, clearer processes for accessing funds, and honesty about what we can and cannot take on. I also want to actively look for funding we are not currently accessing, whether that is grants, university pots, or more structured or innovative sponsor arrangements.
My degree has given me a solid grounding in quantitative skills, working with data, and I am comfortable making structured decisions under uncertainty. But more than that, I care about this society and want to leave it in a stronger financial position than when we inherited it, not just stable for this year, but genuinely set up for the next committee too.
If you want someone who takes the finances seriously and loves new ideas to develop, I would love your vote.
