Space Society: Chair

Hi everyone,

I’m Ollie, your current ICSS Chair, and I’m running to continue in the role next year.

I’ve been part of the society for three years, serving on the committee for two. First as Rocket Engine Project Lead and now as Chair. As Project Lead, I coordinated technical teams, engaged sponsors, and helped creat a four-week Introduction to Rocket Engine Design course that strengthened recruitment. That year culminated in our first successful hot fire at Race2Space 2025, and I’ve since remained closely involved in the project.

As Chair this year, I've been responsible for leading the organisation of all of our hackathons, talks, and other events, while also managing the society's social media/PR, finances, event budgets, proposals, risk assessments, project relations and outreach initiatives, including mentoring and volunteering.

A highlight from my work this year was the LEOHack and SatHack, two 50-person, two-day hackathons supported by Magdrive and Lodestar Space. These expanded engagement opportunities beyond project work, a key goal from my previous manifesto. We also secured over £10,000 in sponsorship and grants, contributing to record income and membership levels. These achievements were a result of a team effort that I was proud to coordinate and help lead, and I’m very grateful to the committee members whose hard work made them possible.

Next year, I want to keep building on this momentum, ensuring strong technical and financial support for our projects while expanding opportunities for members through further industry talks, site visits, networking events, launch watch-alongs, and hackathons.
