Civil Engineering: Industrial Liaison Officer

Hi everyone! My name is Sze Jing, and I am running for this position to enhance CivSoc’s value to its members through industry engagement and bridging industrial expectations on engineering students.

My previous experience as a TEDxImperial Co-Chair and Consulting Workshop Programme Lead has involved working with external stakeholders and supporting career-based events with major firms, such as Deloitte. If elected, I will be applying these stakeholder management skills to deliver consistent, high-impact outcomes for CivSoc, maintaining the society's professionalism when communicating with external partners.

My primary aim is to deepen industrial collaboration and engagement for CivSoc beyond weekly lectures and career fairs. I will actively pursue strategic collaborations such as industrial visits and workshops that reflect real industrial demands, in addition to the weekly lecture of interest and the career fair that is currently offered, while aligning the next committee's goals and aims. These initiatives will help bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice, while giving students direct exposure to employers and industry insights. I also seek to strengthen relationships with sponsors by ensuring that partnerships are well-defined, professionally managed, and aligned with CivSoc’s values.

It is aimed at expanding the quality and relevance of industry-facing opportunities available to students. Through structured and purposeful collaborations, CivSoc can better support students’ professional development and career readiness.

Do vote for me to create opportunities that are both sustainable and valuable for all of us!
