Hi, I’m Amelia, a first year Biochemistry student who is hoping to be your Concert Officer in the next academic year!

At the age of ten I saw my first full production show, Wicked, at Sunderland Empire. Seeing the special effects, like the roaring dragon clock, the vivid costumes and the talent on stage encaptivated me into the world of theatre and the emotional storylines you can get lost in. Artsoc allows people with a similar passion, or even people just starting to get into theatre, to share this experience to create a community that overall appreciates the magnificence of theatre.

However, sometimes just attending these shows is not enough. We can develop these friendships from more than just pre-show and interval interactions to more regular socials- especially considering not everyone is able to attend every musical in the line-up.

As concert officer, I want to:

• Organise more social nights so members can talk to each other more regularly like termly quiz nights, games nights, as well as keep current events running frequently.
• Introduce new events like theatre tours, theatre club nights.
• With your suggestions, introduce ballet, comedy shows and even drag shows as Artsoc can be more than musicals!
• More collaborations with other societies.
• Run regular polls to improve our line ups and take suggestions for socials, shows and any musicals you wish to be re-ran that you did not have the opportunity to attend before.
