Hi everyone! I’m Kelly from second year Biomedical Engineeing.

I’m obsessed with musical theatre — my absolute favourites are Les Misérables, SIX, and Dear Evan Hansen! In high school, because I loved Les Mis that much, I actually performed a whole Les Misérables stage production with my drama friends.

Art Soc is genuinely the best society!! Me and my friends are always screaming over shows, so being able to run for committee here makes me so happy. I’m hoping to use this chance to meet more people who love musicals and theatre as much as I do!

Now, about the election — I honestly feel like Art Soc is already doing an amazing job, so I’ve been thinking: what can I bring to the society? Here are my three ideas:

  1. More posters + promo! I’m aiming for every two weeks, so more people know there’s a channel to access the shows they want to see.

  2. More socials! Karaoke would be PERFECT. I’d love to organise more karaoke nights — even West End show-themed karaoke specials (like a SIX night, or a Les Mis night). Also down for movie nights, pub nights, quiz nights, etc.

  3. More frequent + wider surveys to see what people are most interested in right now, so we can plan around what members actually want.

I’m happy to be part of this community, and excited to meet everyone. No matter how the election goes, I’d still love to go watch musicals with you all!
