Miriam Palmer
Hi, I’m Miriam and I’m running for Women’s Captain this year. Over the past two years I have worked my way up from involuntary cox of the 3V to BUCS head champ 4- medallist, and I’ve loved every second of it.
Even though the women’s squad is small, I know what we are capable of. I’m committed to providing support to every member of the women’s squad to keep the number of athletes high, and I will encourage flexibility within training to ensure we can field two competitive women’s eights all season.
Additionally, I won’t be a pushover with Adam and Dave. I am a firm advocate for every athlete and will ensure our programme is purposeful, prioritises our needs, and is published far ahead of time.
I believe that a happy boat is a fast boat and I want to maintain good vibes within the squad, as well as bridging the gap between the novices and seniors. I will make sure the socials accommodate the women and will encourage a good turnout, after all, we are all in need of an Emboogy at times!
Zara has done an excellent job of Women’s Captain, and I want to continue her success this year by being the captain I would have loved when I learnt to row. And finally, most importantly, I will get the wheel put back on the launch trailer!
