Ben Wilderer
Tennis has been a big part of my life for the past 12 years, and I am determined to continue this in Uni. After settling into Uni life in year 1, I think next year will be the best opportunity for me to get as involved with the tennis society as possible, which is why I think M2 captain would be a great role for me.
My biggest strength is my commitment to the society and the sport. I have played in almost all the training sessions and most matches with M2 in the last 2 terms; furthermore, I have participated in events such as the Disability tennis workshop and Davis Cup. With the extra time in year 2, I am confident I will come to all trainings, matches, and organise the team to create a fun and competitive environment.
I have built a good relationship with the rest of the M2 team, knowing them well personally as well as their tennis playstyle and ability. Next year, this would be continued with new players, and through this, I could create good team synergy with tactical doubles pairings to win Imperial some matches. Having previous coaching experience along with a level 2 qualification, I could also set drills and have structured training sessions tailored to the team’s needs.
As a captain, I would also push for a larger social presence within the society, particularly from M2 players. I could also help support the rest of the committee in any way possible.
