Malaysian: Sports Officer

Yes… even though I was Max in MNight, there was a reason I was the greatest Galah Panjang player of them all (See fig. for inspiration). It’s because I am a sportsperson at heart.

At Imperial, I have enjoyed playing football and badminton as well as terrorising Woodward with my table tennis and table football skills. I have really enjoyed MSoc football especially competing in the Manchester MGames and can't wait to play in Warwick MGames in March.

What really sparked my interest in the Sports Officer role was the ‘MGames experience’ because it was amazing to watch people reunite over a game of football, badminton, frisbee you name it. I believe I have what it takes for this role in terms of leadership and organisation having been Head Boy and Head of House in the past, and first-year academic rep at Imperial. And even if things don’t go our way, I will always try my best to make things work. I am excited to propose new ideas like a 24-hour charity sports marathon and alumni matches as well as maintain and build on the successes of the current system like delegation of captains and the range of sports available.

Although I did grow up in London and have a slightly noticeable British accent, I do really love MSoc and want to ensure every Malaysian feels at home especially as someone who didn’t immediately fit in. So what better way to do that then through the love of sports, eh?
