Benjamin Loke

Hello! I am Benjamin Loke, a first year Chemistry undergraduate and I am running to be your next events officer!

I believe in the value events have in bringing people together and helping individuals find their community. Knowing almost no one coming to imperial, it was events organised by singsoc such as sojourn and mums and dads that allowed me to make friends and made coming to imperial less daunting.\

Likewise, I hope to give back to the society by being in charge of planning the events that bring the freshers together, helping them find their community at Imperial. Some guiding principles I would hold to if I were to be elected include:

1. Ensuring the event runs smoothly
2. Ensuring everyone enjoys themselves (did not find it a waste of time)
3. Meaningful friendships were made (I hate using the word connections)

Something else I hope to accomplish if I am the events officer is for further collaborations with other cultural societies such as Msoc. Even though we are supposed to be a multicultural society, interacting with my Malaysian friends at Imperial made me realise we have so much we can learn from them and many more things we can explore outside of our Singapore bubble.
