Hello voters! I'm Allen, an applied math student, and I am running for a role as a Publicity Officer for MathSoc.
As the current journal editor of ‘Achaemeneans’ and having previously designed a range of posters for magazines and advertisements, I have profound experience in creating all sorts of content for the promotion of events, opportunities, and merchandise!
I have noticed that while MathSoc newsletters are informative, their readability could be improved. As a publicity officer, I will prioritise enhancing the newsletters’ format via:
- Implementing a clear and well-defined email structure by categorisation of events, streamlining navigation.
- Replacing large imagery with short texts that still present all necessary information, resizing any smaller imagery to accommodate phone users.
- Utilising regular surveys to find what members want and planning events accordingly.
Aside from emails, I will be creating and maintaining a dedicated inbox for feedback and forwarding high-quality responses to the committee. Your feedbacks are essential for our improvements!
I also plan to reach a greater audience on Instagram and LinkedIn via:
- Posting (bi)weekly mathematics problems & recent research highlights.
- Showcasing member projects & achievements (under their permission).
Above all, I believe teamwork is the foundation of any society. I will collaborate closely with the Career Officer to deliver valuable professional opportunities, the Webmaster to publish up-to-date content on our societal website, and the leaders to make outreach engaging and insightful.
