Who am I?
I'm Tristan, a first-year JMC student, and I'm running for Publicity Officer so that no MathSoc event goes unnoticed and unheard. MathSoc has an incredible community with many events and opportunities, but none of that matters if people don't know about it. My goal is to ensure everyone feels informed and engaged with MathSoc's activity through frequent and useful content.
What will I do?
I want to help establish a clean, consistent visual identity across social media channels like Instagram and WhatsApp. That means reusable templates, thoughtful layouts, and posts that people actually stop to read. I also want to go further, sharing speaker bios, competition opportunities, career insights, colloquium background information and content that makes MathSoc's membership feel valuable beyond just showing up to events. I'll also improve consistency in our posts, so no one is left out of the loop.
I also want to start a Discord server for MathSoc with other members of the committee, to act as a central hub for students to seek & give guidance on module content, share opportunities, and to actually get to know each other. I think that Discord can be made more organised and scalable than other communication channels.
Why me?
I've worked on design and social media content with tools like Canva and Figma for fundraising and volunteer campaigns throughout high-school. Combined with my passion for mathematics, I believe my experiences will bring a fresh perspective on MathSoc's online presence and improve community interaction.
Vote Tristan.
