Heyhey! I’m Rachel, and I’ll be running for ABACUS secretary! :)
I was born and raised in the UK but I speak English and Chinese in a 50-50 ratio (probably the most un-whitewashed bbc you’ll ever meet…). I’ve always looked for opportunities to stay in touch with my roots, and not only has this society provided this, but also the chance to meet my people! I’ve met so many like-minded individuals and built the most genuine friendships. 🥰 The escape from grueling Imperial life has also been MUCH needed… 🙂↕️
Having had some of my favourite university experiences through ABACUS, I want to do everything to make sure next year’s freshers are able to make equally special memories, by handling the administrative tasks behind the scenes.
As secretary, I promise to:
- Change the ticketing system to make it simpler and more reliable, ensuring those with membership receive their discounts and ticket numbers are correct, giving you the best clurb experience 😝🥂
- Introduce ABACUS calendar on instagram and whatsapp, so you can see in due time when events will be and when tickets will be released, allowing everyone to plan ahead and clear up their dates 📆
Rest assured that I have had plenty of experience in organising events and administrative tasks. Now, I want to use and grow my personal skills to give back to a community that has given me so much, and make sure ABACUS, a society that has such significant cultural value, continues to grow and expand!
