Physics: Secretary

Hi everyone, I’m Inaaya and I’m running to be your Secretary for PhySoc. I’m organised, proactive, and committed to helping the society run smoothly while continuing to grow in a sustainable and forward-thinking way.

My key goals would be:

1. Strengthen internal organisation and continuity

I want to ensure that meeting minutes, planning documents, and event records are clearly structured and archived. A well-documented society allows future committees to build on previous successes and ensures smoother handovers year after year.

2. Encourage greater member involvement

I aim to introduce a consistent and accessible way for members to suggest ideas and give feedback. PhySoc should reflect the interests of its members, and the Secretary plays an important role in making sure those voices are heard.

3. Expand alumni and academic connections

I would like to help develop stronger, more structured links with physics alumni and the department, creating a broader network for guest speakers, career insights, and mentorship opportunities for members.

Beyond these goals, I want to help foster a stronger sense of community within PhySoc, where members feel informed, involved, and supported throughout the year.

As the current Year 1 Physics Academic Representative, I have developed strong communication and organisational skills through attending meetings and representing students effectively. I would bring this experience to ensure PhySoc remains efficient, transparent, and reliable.
