The Communications Officer role can be more than just relaying messages from DocSoc to all of you.
Communication should flow both ways. Including a suggestion and complaints form in the weekly emails allows DocSoc to constantly know what we can do better and make up for what went wrong in the past. I want to provide members an opportunity to communicate directly to voice their opinions and help us improve.
Making the Communications more interesting. The current focus of the role is clear: convey everything important going on in DocSoc, but it can also include other things like updates on new, exciting technologies that might interest a lot of people, or feature a quick chat with someone from the Department sharing their knowledge and insights! There’s a lot of potential to spice up regular communication with something short yet valuable, and I want to make that possible.
Doing the job. Most importantly, it’s important for the Communications Officer to fulfil their regular role - send out accurate weekly digests on time! As someone who has managed my highschool’s weekly magazine in the past, this is a task I’m quite good at, and I know I can take up this responsibility successfully.
Vote for me if you want to see a fresh approach to the Communications Officer role!
