MathSoc is great - but sometimes finding out what’s actually going on feels like proving a lemma with half the definitions missing.
I’m Brian, I'm first-year JMC, and I’m running to be your MathSoc Secretary. My goal is simple: make MathSoc communication well-defined, bounded, and continuous (no sudden jumps from “nothing happening” to “you missed it yesterday”).
First: comms. If you didn’t see the email, the event exists only up to measure zero. I’ll send a weekly “What’s On” update with the essentials: what it is, when/where it is, how to sign up, and whether there’s food (the most important invariant). No epsilon–delta required to locate the details.
Second: the newsletter. I want it to converge - short, useful, and actually readable. Quick recap of highlights, what’s coming up, and any genuinely relevant opportunities (talks, DRP/mentoring, careers bits), without turning your inbox into an infinite series that definitely doesn’t.
Third: behind-the-scenes organisation. I’ll keep meeting notes and action points tight, chase up loose ends, and help the committee run smoothly so plans don’t drift like an unbounded random walk. Think of me as reducing the entropy of MathSoc logistics: fewer missing links, fewer last-minute surprises, and fewer “wait where is it?” messages.
If you want MathSoc to be easier to engage with, better organised, and to have communication that’s actually consistent, I’d really appreciate your vote!
